Christmas is getting closer and closer, and your favorite companies are feeling the Christmas spirit. In many cases, apps and platforms only adopt “Christmas UI” that matches the holiday season. OpenAI goes further and lets you chat with Santa via ChatGPT.
ChatGPT is already quite popular today, even among the less tech-savvy. Many have adopted the AI-powered platform for their daily lives, whether to resolve doubts, search for information, help them in their studies and work, or simply have a fun time. The “conversational” capabilities of the chatbot, especially after the implementation of its latest models, allow people to have a fun time talking with it.
You can now talk to Santa through ChatGPT
In light of this, ChatGPT has included the voice and personality of Santa Claus as one of the presets for the Advanced Voice Mode. You can access the option either by tapping/clicking on the snowflake icon in the message bar or from the platform’s settings.
The “Santa mode” is designed for spending fun moments with your family. The company did not integrate it as a permanent option, as it will be available only until January. Also, ChatGPT will not keep a history of your conversations with Santa. That means that nothing you say or write in that mode will impact the model’s memory.

The “Santa mode” feature is available for all platforms where you can use ChatGPT. The list includes the Android and iOS apps, the Windows and MacOS native clients, and ChatGPT web. As a Christmas gift, OpenAI is resetting the Advanced Voice Mode use quota for everyone, allowing you to chat with Santa even if you have reached your limit.
Multimodal video and screen-sharing support now available
In addition to the “Santa mode,” OpenAI made another, even more important announcement about ChatGPT. After months of waiting, the company is integrating video-based multimodal capabilities into the Advanced Voice Mode. The platform is also getting support for screen sharing. Both features are part of the GPT-4o model released this year, although they were not yet available.
Video mode allows you to ask ChatGPT questions in real time about objects, your environment, or more through your device’s camera. So, you won’t have to upload images or text descriptions for additional context. Screen sharing support allows for something similar, but by showing ChatGPT what’s happening on your screen.
Video and screen sharing features are already available for Plus and Pro subscribers. However, users in EU countries will have to wait a bit longer. This is becoming common with AI-powered services due to the European Commission’s strict regulation on data privacy. On the other hand, the features will arrive for business and student users in January.
