Sony is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the original Ghostbusters by making three new films that call back to the series’ original successes. The first of these, Ghostbusters: The Afterlife, comes out this Friday and the trailer, released this morning, shows a dead Dana Barrett (proton pack-toting Alison Brie) bowing her head to her former partners, co-workers, and frenemies. Will ghostbusters come to Muir Woods to put an end to this?
This episode also introduces a whole host of new ghosts, some fearsome and some adorable. Scott Lang (Ed Helms) recalls serving on a Ghost Corps, an elite team of supernatural sleuths. He tells an old war story, that Dana will see when he begins to do his spirit denials. All goes as expected, but Ray Stantz (Chris Hemsworth) finds he’s suddenly the most important person in the universe. It’s up to Brie to solve this.
Ghostbusters: The Afterlife opens June 1 and will be shown nationwide.
