The stars of “Power Book II: Ghost” are speaking out about the fan-favorite drama’s return for a second season.

In an exclusive series interview with CNN Style, actress Angela Bassett, who plays police detective Evelyn “Angie” Diaz, shares the significance of reuniting on-screen with cast mates Omari Hardwick (her on-screen son Ghost), Naturi Naughton (his love interest Tasha), Joseph Sikora (FBI agent Joseph “Ghost” Madison) and series creator Courtney Kemp Agboh.

Angela Bassett on “Power Book II: Ghost”: “It’s the love story between two men, two men who dream of the same things in life, who share the same dreams of getting ahead in life. The end. That’s what this show is.” “Yes, I’m intrigued by some female-fronted projects, but this show got off the ground in a man’s world. So, it speaks in a different way than some of the stuff that we see.” Angela Bassett on “Power Book II: Ghost”: “I think it speaks to everybody, because we are all looking for things. We’re all looking for a man who is willing to give of himself. A man willing to be chased by men to achieve his life goals, especially when there’s this unlikely woman out there who shows up to help him.” Angela Bassett on “Power Book II: Ghost”: “We get to know Joseph and what his struggle is, and I think that really shows how he treats women on a daily basis. The way he protects them, and he treats them like a human being. “Yes, the male/female triangle in this series is interesting and fun to watch, but I think people are actually curious. They’re like, ‘So, who is this demon, who is this lady, who is this broken part of himself that wants to be repaired?’” Alexandra Beattie of Chanel On Location on the production of “Power Book II: Ghost.” Angie Diaz and Omari Hardwick on “Power Book II: Ghost”: “The love story between two men, two men who dream of the same things in life, who share the same dreams of getting ahead in life. It doesn’t take away from the reality of the situation, but it brings attention. So, you want to help out. And when we’re on set, we’re adding something different to the love of the show. We’re bringing something different to the love story.” Angela Bassett on “Power Book II: Ghost”: “I think it speaks to everybody, because we are all looking for things.
